"This experience is truly like none other. If you are interested in going to Ethiopia, there is, simply and honestly put, no other choice than to book via Ethical Ethiopia Experiences.

Made up of the most dynamic duo possibly ever put to the travel industry. Despite the fact we never had the privilege to meet Fiona in person, her fingerprints were clear throughout the entire experience. Her intelligence and utter comprehensiveness regarding our itinerary and do’s/don’ts were relevant and elaborate. She informed us of medical circumstances regarding Marburg quicker than major news outlets like Guardian AND BBC. And coordinating with Geta we took all necessary precautions. She is a force of nature and one i’ve had the pleasure of benefitting from.

Geta is otherworldly. A man experienced in two worlds who, himself, is a truly perfect synthesis of Western and African cultures. There is no other way to describe him than as having taken the positive elements of both British and Ethiopian cultures. Intelligence and dedication define my experience of him. Wicked sense of humor and above all an extraordinary sense of duty to his role as tour guide. Geta was a member of our family by the end of our trip.

Our trip took us From Turmi and Arba Minch in the South up to Gondar and Lalibela in the North. The mighty Semien mountains as an imposing backdrop. As well as the to-be-climbed-barefoot cave-hewn Churches of Abune Yemata and Maryam Kurke (?) atop mountain faces. Ending the trip to the alien Danakil depression. Our itinerary permitted Geta and Fiona to create an experience simply unattainable elsewhere.

The seriousness with which these two took to their job is unparalleled. If you are looking for a bougie, upscaled experience, book EEE. If you are looking for an authentic Ethiopian experience, BOOK EEE!!! The flexibility to ensure the highlights are hit, the learning opportunities taken, the cultural interactions available, are unlike any other experience I’ve ever had. And luckily Ethiopia as a backdrop provides the most awe-inspiring stage for their performance. These guys live up to their name and i cannot, absolutely cannot, recommend them enough. 1000/10. Looking forward to what the future holds (Tanzania?). And continuing their work in Ethiopia, where I am sure they will provide out-of-this-world unique experiences that are unrivalled literally anywhere else."

"There are not enough stars in the sky to properly rate Ethical Ethiopian Experiences. We just spent 3 of the best weeks of our lives thanks to Geta & Fiona.

From immersing ourselves in the fascinating Hamar culture to walking among baboons in the Simien Mountains to visiting churches deep in the earth and soaring high in the sky to watching unbelievable sunrises and sunsets in places too amazing to be real.

We slept under the stars and shared meals around fires. We met people who will remain in our hearts forever. This was not a vacation it was a life experience meant to be fully embraced.

If you are not booking with Geta & Fiona you are missing the best Ethiopia has to offer. Thank you for everything. We cannot wait to return for more in the future!"

"I am a university student from South Korea, and I was lucky to have the chance to travel to Ethiopia. While preparing for my trip, I searched through many tour websites for a South Omo trip. However, the more websites I looked at, the more uncomfortable I felt. Most of them simply advertised how many tribes you could visit in a short time, and the group photos with tribes especially made me feel uneasy.

Luckily, I found this amazing tour agency run by Fiona and Geta. When I read through their itinerary, my gut feeling immediately told me this was the right tour for me, because I was very interested in experiencing the real daily life of local people.

During my time in Turmi with Fiona, Geta, and the local people, I had an amazing experience. Even though I stayed there for only one week, I felt like I was truly part of the community. Since Geta grew up in Turmi, it was very easy to meet and connect with people living in Turmi and the Hamar villages.

The most amazing part of this tour was that I could visit a Hamar village as a real guest, not as a tourist. I visited Kuna’s family and neighbors, spent quality time with them cooking, grinding beans, sharing food, and even slept at their compound on cow skins!

Now I am back in Seoul, South Korea, but I am still thinking about the people I met there. Especially the girls who seemed to be around my age — I hope to hear about their future life stories.

I am 100% sure that if you are the kind of traveler who feels the same way as I do, Ethical Ethiopian Experiences is the best choice. I also had many wonderful conversations with Geta and Fiona. Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience.💗🇪🇹"

"I 100% recommend booking a tour with this agency! I was looking for a unique experience where I could not only meet but also learn from a traditional tribe in the Omo Valley. What really stood out to me was their strong ethical approach towards the communities and their genuine purpose of bringing real value to the people they work with. Geta and Fiona truly delivered on this front.

I joined a one-week tour through the Omo Valley, starting in Arba Minch and ending in Jinka. We explored several places around Arba Minch before heading south to Turmi, which became our base for the week. One of the highlights was spending a full day with a tribal family. They were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the whole experience felt like a genuine cultural exchange rather than a staged visit.

Because Geta grew up in the area and has many Hamar friends, I was also fortunate enough to attend a bull-jumping ceremony. It was actually held for one of Geta’s friends, which made it even more special. Thanks to their personal connection with the community, you don’t feel like an outsider intruding on private traditions. Geta explained the meaning and cultural significance behind the ceremonies, something other groups unfortunately missed out on. There were some other tourists from different tours being dropped off during a part of the ceremony without translation or context, which really highlighted the difference in approach.

Fiona and Geta were also fantastic in helping me plan my trip. I usually travel more as a backpacker, so this level of support was new to me but very much appreciated. Since my visit overlapped with Ethiopian New Year, it was difficult for them to find a trusted local guide for the tribes around Arba Minch. Instead of compromising, they rearranged the tour in reverse so that I could still visit Dorse and Konso with a local guide they trusted, and then continue on to the Omo Valley. They even coordinated with Ethiopian Airlines to change my independently booked flights and invited me to celebrate New Year with their friends and family. It turned out perfectly and added an unforgettable local touch to the whole journey.

In short, this was a truly unforgettable experience. If you’re planning to visit this special region of Ethiopia, I can’t recommend Ethical Ethiopian Experiences enough. Their commitment to giving back to the community and creating authentic cultural exchanges makes them stand out from other tour operators"

"This tour was absolutely unforgettable! One of the MANY highlights for me was making lunch with a local family. It was such a hands-on, personal experience - learning to prepare traditional dishes together and sitting down to enjoy the meal as a group was something truly special. It felt so real and authentic, and I loved connecting with the Hamar people. This tour offers so much more than just sightseeing; it’s a chance to really dive into the culture and get to know real people in their real environment. Highly recommend it! Nothing was forced upon the locals or us, it was a mutual love of sharing cultures and traditions. The guides are truly LOVELY and are really knowledgeable about Hamar and Ethiopia."
