Experience Ethiopia Through Its People

 ★ 5-Star Rated by Travelers

Step into the lives of families who open their world to you.

Hamar women, South Omo Valley

We don’t show you Ethiopia - we introduce you to the people who make it come alive.

You’ll spend real, meaningful time with Hamar families, of the South Omo Valley, who trust us, thanks to decades-long relationships, deep cultural knowledge, and genuinely fair partnerships - never staged visits or photo ops.

Be welcomed into their daily lives, learn their skills, gain new perspectives, and connect as humans.

Across Ethiopia, we also offer eco-friendly tours with the same high-quality guiding and commitment to supporting communities and the environment.

Is Ethiopia Safe to Visit?

We completely understand why safety is one of the biggest questions people have before travelling to Ethiopia. When you're planning a trip from thousands of miles away, it can be difficult to get a clear picture of what life is actually like on the ground. Unfortunately, Ethiopia is often judged by headlines that don't reflect the reality in most of the country. Recent conflicts have been highly localised, yet can affect perceptions of Ethiopia as a whole. Likewise, health scares elsewhere in Africa are sometimes assumed to apply across the entire continent, even when they have no impact here. The reality is that every location we take our guests is safe, politically stable, and carefully assessed before we travel there. In fact, many visitors are surprised by how safe they feel once they arrive, and crime levels in the areas we visit are often lower than in many Western countries. We would never sell a trip to a destination that we believed posed a genuine risk to our guests' safety. Because we live in Ethiopia and spend much of the year in Southern Ethiopia ourselves, we have a very up-to-date understanding of local conditions. Before every trip, we check in with trusted local contacts and partners to assess the situation on the ground. This allows us to stay flexible, make informed decisions, and adapt plans if needed — always with guest safety as the priority. In many cases, we have access to information far quicker than international media outlets. As one guest, Marty, wrote in their Google review: "Her intelligence and utter comprehensiveness regarding our itinerary and do's/don'ts were relevant and elaborate. She informed us of medical circumstances regarding Marburg quicker than major news outlets like Guardian and BBC. Coordinating with Geta, we took all necessary precautions." Should any health or safety concern ever arise, we can move quickly, adjust plans, and ensure our guests remain well informed and supported. Fortunately, situations like this are very rare (like the Marburg virus outbreak which is now over), and for the vast majority of the time travel in the areas we operate is straightforward and trouble-free. To make your journey as smooth and stress-free as possible, we also provide: Airport pickup included 24/7 in-country support Experienced local guides Carefully selected accommodation Thoughtfully planned routes Many of our guests arrive with understandable concerns about safety and logistics. By the end of their trip, they are often telling us that Ethiopia felt far safer, friendlier and more welcoming than they expected. If you'd like to discuss any concerns before booking, we're always happy to have an honest conversation and answer any questions. We'd much rather you make a decision based on accurate, up-to-date local knowledge than on distant headlines.
